Temptation and Glory
As I sit here I know that the gate to hell is open and I’m being drawn in.
Drawn away from my Lord.
pulled by society
pulled by my evil desires
pulled by my lust
it is my sin, it is the father i served long ago that draws me in
yet i see the redeeemer
the light
the christ
he is there, i see his spirit break forth
as i lay my life down another day
he draws me in
he’s my savior not just once
he’s my savior each day
he’s my savior now
he’s my savior tomorrow
he’s my savior
redeeming my thoughts
redeeming my hopes
reshaping my mind
reshaping my desires
breaking forth through the evil desires
giving me a new focus, a new pursuit
exulting his name
exulting his spirit in my life
exulting him
knowing him
pursuing him
reading his word, knowing his voice
it is the great pursuit
the truth spelled out by the good book
I am not condemned by my conscience anymore.
I am free
do you want to be free too?
lay your life down and give it all up to him to use you in this pursuit
it is a good pursuit
the only pursuit with eternal significance
your life, eternal, joined with the savior
dining with him with a new body
a spiritual body without death
no more will you taste death
because the savior drank that death
now you drink of him
if you do, you will be forever changed
into a man, or woman of greatness
for God is not a respecter of people
he will save you no matter your situation
you just have to pay the price, dieing to yourself just as christ died in the body
lay your life down because your greatest works are like filthy rags compared to God’s glory
when you touch his holiness and his presence you will understand
he saved me
cleaned me
he is faithful
i am not
i try
and yet all God requires
is faith
that is it
faith
take on his will by faith
by faith receive his grace
Those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.
