Poem - The 23RD CHANNEL
I found this poem and I think it really speaks to the problem of TV for a lot of people.
“The 23RD CHANNEL”
(-author unknown).
The TV is my shepherd, I shall want.
It makes me lie down on the sofa.
It leads me away from the scriptures.
It destroys my soul.
It leads me in the path of sex and violence, for the sponsor’s sake.
Yea, though I walk in the shadow of my Christian responsibilities, there will be no interruption, For the TV is with me.
It’s cable and remote, they control me.
It prepares a commercial before me in the presence of worldliness; It anoints my head with Humanism, My coveting runneth over…..

God has been asking me to yield TV as an act of worship. The amazing thing was the depth of influence television had over me. I never knew it until it was gone. And I give glory to God for releasing me of the hold it had over me.
The same can be true regarding good spiritual food. Sometimes I get so used to the glorious peace of God. If I neglect feeding my spirit, I inevitably miss out on being influenced by what is good.
Wow. I never realize how much I need my time with the Lord until I don’t have it. Because the depth of its influence is far, far greater than any TV.
Psalm 101:3
“I will set before my eyes no vile thing. The deeds of faithless men I hate; they will not cling to me.”
Definitely, I think God wants us to honor Him–not the TV.
